B. CONTENT

TIP : DO NOT REPEAT UR CONTENT FROM BEFORE

  • Don't just copy and past info from what you have written before

  • If not it will be too repetitive

  • Instead, draw the similarities & differences between the works, talk about how each work has a different effect/impact

  • Write it some new insights & points from the basis of comparison

  • Pay attention to every detail of the works to really compare & contrast them

1. FORMAL ANALYSIS

When comparing and connecting the three works for formal analysis

  • Don't just describe the similarities/differences

  • Elaborate on them

  • What are the effect/impact created that is similar or different?

Additional Points You can Use

  • Format : 2D/3D

    • What experience does it create that is similar/different?

    • Intimate/Immersive?Manipulate Space?

  • Light : Natural light/Spotlight in Gallery 

    • Experience changes throughout the day

    • or It does not differ?​

2. FUNCTION & PURPOSE

For Function

  • Use the Headers that you created for your works to compare and contrast them

    • (eg. Political, Cultural) Function

  • Conceptual Context

    • Is the work representational & direct or symbolic?​

  • Is the work personal & intimate or does it aim to raise a wider issue to the larger audience?

For Purpose

  • Compare & contrast the tone/perspective of the works

    • Is the artist presenting a negative/positive/neutral point of view​ of the subject matter?

​

    • What does that allow the audience to feel?

      • View the work from the artists’ perspective?

      • or Allow the audience to have their own stance? 

3. CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE

Use the Headers (eg. Cultural, Personal, Political) Context

  • To connect and compare your works​

Notes

  • Is the work done in response of a specific event/situation or not really?

  • Does the work deal with a current or past issue?

  • Does the work have any significant to a community or more of a personal work?

  • If you do, feel free to change it up in terms of formatting

  • Format it to your own colour schemes or styles etc.

  • And remember to always consult your mentors along the way!!
